Early Head Start in Kansas

The Family Conservancy provides Early Head Start services to families living in Wyandotte and Johnson counties. Infants and toddlers, age 2 and under, who meet the program qualifications can receive comprehensive child development and family support services at partnering family and center-based child care programs. Families are asked to review the eligibility requirements below and apply for DCF childcare subsidy before scheduling an enrollment appointment.

You can provide exceptional services to children and their families by becoming a Head Start provider.

Eligibility

  • Must hold a Kansas license
  • Serve 0-3 year old children
  • Maintain required liability insurance on all children
  • Be at least 21 years of age and have previous child care experience
  • Accept DCF childcare subsidy
  • Have a minimum Child Development Associate credential or begin studying for a CDA

Availability
Available to providers in Wyandotte and Johnson Counties in Missouri.

Enroll Your Child

Please review eligibility requirements before scheduling an application appointment. Applications are accepted year long. To set-up an application appointment, please call 913.742.4183 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The following items are needed at your application appointment:

  • Proof of all income for 12 months (examples: 1040 Tax form, TANF, SSI, Child Support)
  • Proof of birth
  • Proof of residency
  • Apply and/or know eligibility status of Child Care Subsidy with Department of Children and Families (DCF) or Foster Care Contractor
  • Current Immunization records
  • Current well-child exam or child assessment
  • Current dental record (if applicable-applies to children over the age of 1)
  • Insurance card (if available)
  • Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) with Infant Toddler Services (if applicable)

 

Who Is Eligible

  • Residents of Wyandotte or Johnson counties in Kansas.
  • Children age 2 and under (While the program serves 3-year-olds, we cannot enroll children over age 2.).
  • Must have an income that is at or below 100% of the federal poverty guidelines, receive SSI or TANF, or be in foster care or homeless.
  • Parents must be working, in school, or in a training program.
  • All programs are inclusive to children with disabilities.
