Managing NonStop Demands and Setting Healthy Boundaries (Online)

In our world today, it seems the pace of "getting back to normal" has left us feeling overwhelmed by nonstop demands. Setting healthy boundaries requires many skills. We will explore how having a clear, concise voice, focused on what is helpful instead of what we don’t want provides a pathway for adults and children to be understood in a more authentic way, and to, in turn, understand. Being able to communicate clearly, to be heard, is our best vehicle for addressing demands and solving problems. Assertiveness is not a tone of voice. It is verbalization of our intention. When one's intention is to be heard in order to maintain or restore a relationship, then their voice is one of clarity rather than driven by emotion. There is a misunderstanding about “being assertive” that seems to indicate that it is about standing up for oneself, even if it means pushing another person down. “You get more of what you are focused on.” (Trainer: Jill Molli, Conscious Discipline Master Instructor) Age Focus: All Ages
