- They’re changing. Teens are between childhood and adulthood – trying to fi gure out who they are.
- It’s hard. With so many physical and emotional changes going on, they struggle with their identity, emotions, bodies and selves.
- They aren’t talkers. Your teen may have trouble expressing what’s on his mind. They may not share as much.
- Friends matter. Your teen may seem to prefer friends over family. It’s OK. They still need you to be a parent.
- They want independence. Teens may push against parent expectations. Be consistent, but allow them choices, too.
- Be prepared. There may be confl ict at home as teens learn how to make decisions and communicate their needs.
- Be patient. Your teen will grow up.
