Four star ratings are not just reserved for hotels. Child care also adheres to a standard that reflects the best quality experience for children. The Family Conservancy coaches participants in this pilot project on how to improve their rating and help identify resources on specific program components in need of improvement. Early education programs that participate in the Quality Rating System are assessed and awarded points for how well they perform in key areas. Based on their points, the programs are assigned a star rating — where the greater number of stars indicates a higher level of quality education. These ratings help parents make informed choices about early learning. The Quality Rating System provides ongoing continuous quality of early learning environments through technical assistance and possible financial support.
