How to talk with children about this topic:

- Keep calm, don't frighten children ... child abduction is rare

- Find ways to practice your safety plan
- Point out to your child the types of people, homes and/or

child is separated from you in public, you may suggest that your child seek out
a specific person, such as a mom with kids
- Tell your child not to go looking for you if you get
separated in a public place. Instead, tell your child which type of person he
or she can go to for help.
- Always know where your children are and who they are with
Things to be sure your children know
- Always inform a parent, guardian, or trusted adult before
going anywhere, accepting anything, or getting into a car with anyone.

you in a way that makes you feel scared, uncomfortable, or confused.
