Parenting Tips on July 7 Fox 4 Morning News: Safe Outdoor Play in the Heat
With soaring temperatures, it's time to rethink outdoor activities for your children. Tune in to the Fox 4 parenting expert on tips for how to keep your children cool when its too hot to play.
Outdoors in the heat?
- If heat index 95F+, limit to 15 minutes
- Go outside in the morning, evening
- Look for shade
- Cover infants in hats, sunglasses
- Use SPF15+ for 6 months and older
- Provide plenty of water
Fun activities when it's hot
- Wash the car/bike/wagon/dog
- Play with water through pots, funnels, scoops, cups, etc.
- Paint sidewalks with koolaid ice cubes
- Run through the sprinklers/sprayers
- Hold water bottle fights
- Catch fire flies (evening)
