Parenting Tips on Jan. 17 Fox 4 Morning News: Keeping Kids Warm
As winter weather finally arrives, it's a good time to think about how to keep kids bundled up against the cold.  Join us for Tuesday's 7:00 a.m. news when our parenting expert will discuss the do's and don'ts of dressing your kids up for the cold.

When it comes to the cold, children ...
  • Often don’t tell you they are cold
  • Don’t want to stop playing or come in
  • Can run the risk of overheating if they're running or active
  • Can become dehydrated
Dressing kids for the cold ...
  • Layering is important (air trapped between layers insulates)
  • Hats are a must: body heat is retained in head
  • Be careful of loose parts, drawstrings that are a strangulation risk
  • Seek waterproofing for outer layer and boots
  • Don't forget warm socks
  • Keep children hydrated

We invite you to share the best deals you've found locally on children's outwear, hats, scarves and mittens on our Facebook page.
