Parenting Tips on Feb. 16 Fox 4 Morning News:It pays to reward children



If you feel that disciplining your child after mischief occurs isn't working, tune in to the Fox 4 parenting expert on Tuesday morning to learn how rewarding good behavior can go a long way.
 
Child rewards

  • Work best for children age 2 and older
  • Can take up to 2 months to work
  • Compile a list of rewards, post to fridge
  • You can buy or make reward charts
  • Be consistent

Examples of good rewards

  • An extra bedtime story/postponing bedtime
  • A parent-child date to a movie/museum/etc.
  • A favorite snack / baking something together
  • A family board game
  • Play date / sleepover
  • Earning points toward a game or toy
