With news of the H1N1 flu spreading around the world, it’s a good time to think about educating your child about good health practices. Join the Fox 4 parenting expert to learn tips to keep the flu and other illnesses at bay.
Help stop illness from spreading
- Teach kids to cover cough/sneeze with tissue or elbow
- Teach kids not to cough/sneeze into hands
- Keep your kids home when sick
- If flu-like symptoms, keep home 7-10 days for H1N1
To stay healthy, teach kids to
- Wash hands when dirty or before eating
- Use soap and warm water
- Wash for 15 to 20 seconds
- Use hand sanitizer when there’s no soap
- Not touch eyes, mouth or nose
- Get plenty of rest, drink water, eat good food
