Core Competencies | Print |  E-mail
The core competencies represent the combined efforts of professionals from Kansas, Missouri, and the Kansas City metropolitan area to define standards for the early learning profession. Core Competencies define what professionals need to know and do to provide quality care and education. They serve as a foundation for decisions and practices carried out by professionals in all settings and programs. There are eight content areas that describe the knowledge and skills professionals need in order to work with children birth through age eight and their families. Professionals increase their knowledge and skills in the content areas through on-going training and education.

Under each content area, there are five levels that establish a continuum to help professionals progress from one level to the next through a combination of formal study and reflection on practice. Please view the following link to find a copy of the core competencies.
