- Respect other cultures. Children need
- to learn to get along with people from
- different backgrounds in order to
- succeed at school and their future jobs.
- Expand their horizons. Expose your
- child to different cultures by reading,
- attending ethnic festivals or sampling
- foods from other countries.
- Be informed. Watch and talk about
- news stories, fi lms and TV shows about
- different cultural groups.
- Discuss hatred. Help your child understand
- and cope with racism in order
- to respond positively for change.
- Watch your language. Avoid stereotypes
- and put-downs of other cultures.
- Lead by example. Reach out to others.
- Organize block parties or gatherings
- to help people feel welcome.
